Rationale

This course explores the ways organisations deploy emerging digital technologies to develop and launch new value offerings and gain more customers which are significant aspects in order to remain competitive in the increasingly digital world. It offers an in-depth perspective on the impact of digital transformation on today’s businesses, its evolution and implications to enhance students’ understanding of the opportunities and challenges of achieving digital innovation. The course is structured around theoretical foundations and key concepts to understand the use of digital tools and their practical application for creating innovative outcomes through formulating Technology Innovation Strategy. It also provides an insight of the ways today’s managers leverage the possibilities of digital technologies to lead transformation and implement the necessary change within firms. How a business's success is evaluated and measured will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Analyse theories and use tools to examine digital technologies in business activities and apply them to manage innovation.
(ii)   Explain the various technological sources, their evolution and patterns of innovation.
