Course Description:

Rationale


This course aims at enhancing students’ understanding of the role of context in entrepreneurship and innovation from both conceptual and practical standpoints. The students will be introduced to academic works studying the interrelation of these two terms and the importance of context – landscape of the innovative activity. The course will impose a number of critical questions on the space-time of the practice of innovation and its implications and also discuss essential concepts such as opportunity exploitation, essential management skills as well as the startup stage of an entrepreneurial initiative.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Identify the interrelations between entrepreneurship and innovation.
(ii)   Discuss critically key aspects and processes of entrepreneurship and innovation.
(iii)  Evaluate business-environment relationships.
(iv)  Describe the role and impact of context in entrepreneurship and innovation. 
(v)   Describe the startup stage of an entrepreneurial initiative. 
(vi)  Identify the managerial skills relevant to the different stages of business development.
