Course Description:

Rationale


This course is intended to provide a deep understanding of the role of finance for the growth of a business, the importance of financial assessment of venture performance and knowledge on the financial issues related to entrepreneurial activities. It also analyses the main principles, tools and concepts of entrepreneurial financial management and provides examples on how do these ideas and tools are applied in real life. Also, the course covers the variety of financial sources used by organisations, the different funding practices and their challenges as well as the role of networking in the financial growth of an organization.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Discuss an organisation’s financial status and sources as part of a value creation process.
(ii)   Analyse the main concepts of financial planning process and assessment within the field of entrepreneurship.
(iii)  Explain key financial statements and tools.
(iv)  Recognise typical funding sources and employ negotiation strategies for funding purposes.
(v)   Prepare a financial forecast.
(vi)  Identify financial opportunities within their local market and find ways to attract the right investors.
