Rationale


This course examines the activities, practices and competencies involved in managing entrepreneurial innovation and creativity. Innovation is nothing without creativity, and both of them are nothing without good management to thrive within the business world. The ability of organisations to manage innovation is critical to their survival whether these organisations are small start-ups or large, established multinationals. For organisations to succeed need to create novelty in their products and services, but also in the ways they produce, deliver and offer service. The aim of this course is to analyse what innovation and entrepreneurial creativity is, and how it can be organised and managed in order to create value.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Define innovation and creativity and practice creative thinking to produce innovation.
(ii)   Explain the role of creativity for innovation and the different types of innovation.
(iii)  Describe theories, frameworks and methods to manage innovation at firm level.
(iv)  Apply these theories to the operation of management in any project of organisational context.
(v)   Apply the skills to lead and take innovation initiatives.
(vi)  Analyse the link between innovation, strategy and entrepreneurship.
(vii) Describe how differentiation is implemented in business strategies, products and services.
