Rationale


Web technologies serve as the building blocks of the internet and are fundamental to the creation of web-based applications and services. By studying this course, students gain a solid foundation on the current and emerging technologies that support web-based software systems. By providing advanced knowledge of web technology topics and specialist areas this course guarantees industry relevance and practical applicability.

This course aims to equip students with the knowledge of the vast range of tools and technologies that can be used and integrated in the modern web.


Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Integrate foundational and advanced web technologies, including web architecture, semantic web technologies and open data innovation, to create innovative web solutions.
(ii)   Employ user-centred design principles to develop accessible, usable, and ethical web solutions that address the diverse needs of users, including those with disabilities.
(iii)  Analyse web systems using web science foundations and development practices, including testing, deployment and performance management.
