Course Description:
Rationale
This course is essential to the curriculum as it teaches students how to use content management systems to create a range of content heavy websites. Students will gain proficiency in employing SEO tools within these systems to enhance visibility on search engines, thus fulfilling client and user needs and addressing contemporary digital requirements.
This course aims to introduce students to the tools, methods and technologies involved with the management of content datasets across a range of scales.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Develop websites using Content Management Systems (CMS), incorporating effective website navigation, usability and security practices.
(ii) Develop comprehensive content strategies that enhance Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) performance and user engagement.
(iii) Evaluate the CMS features that support content strategies.
(iv) Analyse critically various content management systems, assessing their server-side technologies, plugin and theme ecosystems, and SEO capabilities.
(v) Select the most appropriate CMS based on stakeholder needs and content requirements.
