Rationale


Applied art knowledge and skills is a fundamental requirement for web design and development professionals as it is needed to create visually appealing websites that meet current web standards. This course will equip students with the skills necessary to utilise tools such as image editors and CSS effectively for this purpose.  
This course aims to provide an understanding of the issues and techniques that are involved in creating optimal visual experiences for website users.


Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Apply principles of graphic design, typography and colour theory to produce web content that captivates visually, ensures accessibility, adheres to web standards, and offers consistent user experiences across various devices.
(ii)   Apply basic techniques in image editing and typography selection to optimise visual assets and text for readability, responsiveness and aesthetic appeal in different web environments.
(iii)  Incorporate interactive elements such as CSS animations, icons and forms to enhance user engagement and experience on web platforms.
