Course Description:
Rationale
The Project and Research Management course is essential for this programme as it examines research and sampling techniques, focusing on students’ understanding and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, providing students with the necessary skills to conclude their research.
The aim of this course is to explore the essential principles of research design and alternative research strategies as well as computer applications necessary for the research process and to provide an understanding of research methods for data collection, data management and analysis.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Outline the key elements of research and the common methods of quantitative and qualitative data collection.
(ii) Use various software applications for conducting research.
(iii) Analyse the different methods used to collect and analyse qualitative data as well as the software applications.
(iv) Explain the ethics in research in regards to the protection of the participant’s rights data, privacy and autonomy.
(v) Analyse the theory and practice of project management and how to manage research in applied settings.
