Course Description:
Rationale
The course is essential for this programme as it covers basic knowledge of the most common diseases of the Ear, Nose and Throat. Special attention is paid to the proper examination and differential diagnosis as well as on the use of basic instruments in otolaryngology. The training involves working in the E.N.T ward, operating theatres, day care surgeries, outpatient clinics and dealing with the emergency cases related to the E.N.T.
The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge, skills and positive attitudes in the care of patients with common ear, nose, throat and ophthalmic conditions.
Learning Outcomes (Competences)
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Discuss theories and models of nursing.
(ii) Manage patients with conditions of the ear, nose and throat.
(iii) Manage patients with ophthalmic conditions.
(iv) Evaluate the care: the nursing care audit.
(v) Apply principles of nursing care audit.
(vi) Demonstrate audit practice.
(vii) State current issues in nursing.
