Module/Course Description
Course Title: Chemistry
Course Code: UU-CHM-1120-ZM
Programme: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing
Credits: 19.50
Course Description:
Rationale
The role of general chemistry in health care is paramount as this forms the basis for the development of medicines, surgical materials, laboratory testing and radiological imaging. The course teaches the student the role general chemistry plays in healthcare and the application of general chemistry at a molecular level. It also teaches students the context of the chemical principles in general chemistry and the role of interdisciplinary thinking in the application of basic scientific knowledge.
The aim of the course is to provide students with a solid foundation in the theory and the practical applications of general chemistry.
