Course Description:

Rationale


Identifying the characteristics between the concepts of education, curriculum and pedagogy will enhance students’ understanding of the various methods of teaching. Students will be in a position to identify the new learning needs taking into consideration the constant changes in technology, media, the globalisation effect and diversity and how these can be applied in their teaching practices.
The aim of this course is to explore how education has transitioned from the traditional methods and practices to new ways of teaching and learning through the current social changes and technological advancements.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Analyse the concepts of education, curriculum and pedagogy.
(ii)   Explain the evolution of traditional teaching methods to contemporary teaching methods.
(iii)  Relate the challenges of contemporary teaching methods to the changes of technology, media and globalisation.
(iv)  Identify new trends in education and how they can be applied in the educational system.
