Rationale
The course is vital to the programme as it offers practical strategies for crafting the consultancy process and fostering students' capacity for critical reflection on this process, ultimately nurturing a personalised perspective on the role of a process consultant. Through this course, students cultivate proficiency and insight in addressing sensitive issues in consultancy, such as trust building, ethical considerations, implementation challenges and overcoming change resistance.
This course aims to develop students’ understanding of the management consulting industry for both public and private sector managers and enable them to acquire the necessary tools that will help them solve problems occurring within their organisations.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be expected to:
(i) Describe the success factors of consultancies and the steps of the consultancy process.
(ii) Prepare tenders and design the change process and the consultancy problem-solving process internally or with consulting support.
(iii) Describe the professional and ethical standards to which consultants should adhere and how these influence their work.
(iv) Explain the key tasks in the management of consultancy projects.
(v) Establish client relationships through consulting support.
(vi) Address sensitive issues within consultancy affairs.
