Rationale


Managerial Accounting will introduce students to the area and to fundamental concepts, methods and techniques needed for high performance, cost analysis, CVP analysis, budget preparation and basic costing. These are basic for any student wishing to follow a professional career.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Critically assess the importance and role of managerial accounting in the business environment. 
(ii)   Compare and evaluate the nature of costs, their classification and their behaviour. 
(iii)  Utilise cost behaviour for cost estimation.
(iv)  Perform a cost-volume-profit analysis. 
(v)   Apply profit planning by developing a master budget. 
(vi)  Assess the importance and role of costing. 
(vii) Utilise costing systems.
