Rationale
This course is essential for public health professionals working in health units as the effective implementation of health policies is crucial for delivering quality healthcare services and achieving positive health outcomes. This course equips students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of policy implementation within a health unit setting.
The aim of this course is to develop the capacity of students to analyse the challenges and strategies associated with implementing health policies in health units and identify and address problems that may arise during policy evaluation, implementation, and assessment.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Evaluate specific health policy choices by considering their political, economic, and social context.
(ii) Compare the major health system categories in developed countries.
(iii) Analyse common trends and challenges faced by health systems in developed nations.
