Course Description:

This module aims to introduce students to the technical and aesthetic aspects of design for web content in equal measure. During this course, students will be able to gain fundamental understanding of how the web works and how to create platforms for web content to a high standard.

Understand the importance of “web standards” and the principles of semantic mark-up.
Understand the principle of the separation of structure, presentation and behavior.
Appreciate the principles of good visual design with type, color, image and layout.
Understand the principles and purpose of responsive design.
Understand the importance of user-centered design.
Understand what the web is and how small websites are built.
Build small websites to a professional standard.
