Course Description:

Rationale


This is an independent research project on a topic in the field of English Literature. Students will produce a research project designed to broaden their perspectives and to provide an opportunity for the integration of concepts previously explored. Emphasis will be placed on interpretation, writing, and critical thinking related to English literature topics/issues.

The aim of the course is to give students an opportunity to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired by writing a research report. 

Learning outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Carry out independent research.
(ii)   Contribute to the creation of new knowledge or to the application of existing knowledge in solving complex problems.
(iii)  Judge the appropriateness of a variety of critical and analytical approaches to own topic.
(iv)  Synthesise existing material on chosen topic and formulate own approach toward it.
(v)   Evaluate the usefulness of primary and secondary source material in relation to own topic.
