Rationale
The role of private medical facilities is increasingly recognised as a significant player in the provision of health care in the country. These facilities contribute to the care of individuals that have a disposable income allowing for public health to be less burdened. They also absorb and provide employment for the increasing high number of trained health professionals of various kinds who cannot be employed by the public health system. Increased investments will provide for more advanced facilities that could reduce the need for patients seeking treatment abroad and may be the beginnings of a medical tourism industry.
The course aims to develop students’ capacity in the setting up and running of effective private medical clinic or health consultancy by providing them skills and knowledge in Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Project Management.
