Course Description:
Rationale
For the improvement of health services there is an important role that studies and research plays. An understanding of how to conduct research is important for all medical staff as such research helps to clarify and establish effective clinical treatment and prevention strategies in a cost-effective manner.
This aims to make students find better ways to prevent and treat disease leading to improved healthcare and treatment outcomes. Clinical trials provide feedback from real-world clinical experience for comparing and improving the use of drugs, vaccines, medical devices, and diagnostics.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Develop a health research proposal that demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
(ii) Implement a health research proposal using the skills and knowledge gained from previous courses.
(iii) Report findings from a research project, demonstrating leadership in addressing a relevant health issue.
(iv) Distinguish between diverse research approaches, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods.
(v) Apply effective, creative, and innovative solutions to research challenges.
(vi) Collaborate effectively in research projects, demonstrating teamwork and interpersonal skills through problem-solving exercises.
