Rationale
Integrated clinical practice is the process of ensuring a smooth coordination of patient care across various organ systems, disease conditions, health care providers, formal health services and community settings, over periods of time.
This course aims to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts, principles and practices of Clinical Sciences. In addition, it seeks to illustrate the significance of the use of Clinical Sciences in the diagnosis, investigation and management of disease in the Hospital setting.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Explain the general principles of Clinical Sciences.
(ii) Describe the uses of Clinical sciences (History and Physical Examination) in the diagnosis of disease.
(iii) List the main diagnostic tools in used in the diagnosis of disease in Clinical Sciences.
(iv) Describe the principles of diagnosis of Respiratory system disease Clinical sciences methods.
(v) Describe the Clinical sciences methods commonly used in evaluation of dysfunction of the Respiratory System.
(vi) Explain the principles of diagnosis of cardiovascular system disease using Clinical Science methods.
(vii) Describe the Clinical Sciences methods commonly used in evaluation of diseases of the Cardiovascular System.
(viii) Acquire core clinical assessment, diagnostic and professional skills required of a doctor.
(ix) Experience patient care in a variety of clinical settings (primary care, secondary care, general practice, emergency departments, ward care, elective/day case
