Course Description:

Rationale 


The human body parts and organs function smoothly together in the healthy body. An understanding of the relationship of the various parts of the body and how they work together is the basis for understanding how an abnormality can be corrected through surgical or medical interventions.
 
The human anatomy course aim is to familiarise students with the areas of gross anatomy.

 

Learning Outcomes 


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)   Define the embryology of the human body and its role in anatomical development.
(ii)  Describe the anatomical position and common terms used to denote relative positions of body structures and movement of joints.
(iii) Explain the general features of the parts of the skeleton, regions of the body, and systems of the human body.
(iv) Identify bones, major muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and lymph node groups on cadavers or models and relate them to their functions, histology, and embryology.
(v)  Locate the position and relationships of all major structures and bony prominences through inspection and palpation on the living body.
(vi) Interpret anatomical appearances in radiographs of the region studied.
