Rationale


This course will introduce students to hazard analysis in the workplace, which is comprised of two main parts, assessing hazards and inspecting hazards. It is vital for organisations, to identify hazards related to the operation and individual work performed, in order to effectively assess and control the potential related risks that can cause incidents, injuries, property damage and downtime. Hazard analysis is essential to the implementation of an effective health and safety management system and will help improve its performance.

Learning outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Identify workplace hazards through different techniques.
(ii)   Implement prevention and elimination controls for hazards the endanger occupational health.
(iii)  Explain various hazard identification techniques that can improve the health and safety system performance.
(iv)  Analyse data associated to occupational hazards.
(v)   Assess the effectiveness of the control measures implemented in the workplace.
