Course Description:

Rationale


This course will introduce students to the ISO 14001: 2015 Management System which specifies the requirements that an organisation will need to satisfy in order to manage successfully its environmental responsibilities. Students will understand how this management system can benefit the organisation in terms of providing value to the environment and the various stakeholders by enhancing its environmental performance and achieving environmental objectives. Students will study how the system can be applied to any type and size of organisation since it focuses specifically to the environmental aspects of its activities.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Explain the importance of the implementation of environmental management systems in all types of organisations in order to ensure environmental sustainability
(ii)   Identify the benefits of following environmental management procedures.
(iii)  Explain the processes presented in the ISO 14001:2015 management system.
(iv)  Apply the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle for the effective application of the management system.
(v)   Use the appropriate terms and definitions as required by the management systems.
