Course Description:

Rationale


This course will enable students to understand the evolution of law and the judicial system as well as contract law. Case studies will allow the students to apply the principles to everyday situations as well as the business environment.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Describe the basis of law in the business environment.
(ii)   Appraise the role of government institutions in the regulation of business.
(iii)  Illustrate the fundamental difference between public and private law.
(iv)  Articulate the different methods by which legal relations can be established contractually.
(v)   Evaluate the circumstances in which a contract may be breached and the remedies available.
(vi)  Comprehend how a company can be established.
(vii) Contrast the different types of company and the basis for/nature of liability.
(viii) Assess why law is important.
