Rationale


The course will encourage students to critically engage and understand the theories and contemporary developments that are relevant to the current practice of human resource professionals. They will also have the opportunity to examine various issues and challenges of today’s Human Resource sector and propose alternative solutions for improvement.


Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Discuss contemporary and updated key theories, concepts and strategies within HRM of today’s organisations.
(ii)   Evaluate the practical application of contemporary HRM policies and their effectiveness.
(iii)  Deal with any equality issues existing within organisations, as per the power between employers and employees or among the employees and their different roles.
(iv)  Describe recent trends and tools that enhance HRM.
(v)   Examine contemporary issues that challenge or hinder the practice of human resource professionals.
(vi)  Explain how recent HR developments contribute to the achievement of organisational goals and their smooth operation.
(vii) Design HR management strategies that are informed by current events, shifts and trends.
(viii) Keep up to date with the industry and the emerging management changes and trends that take place across the field.
(ix)  Follow the developments of technology and the demographic changes within their organisation.
