Rationale


This personal and professional development course is designed to help students discover and achieve their goals by developing positive, personal qualities such as self-awareness, self-discipline, and self-motivation, in order to perform their best at any professional or any other social context within which they are engaged. Nevertheless, personal development is ongoing, it begins at a very young age and continues throughout one’s life, with the aim to make a positive change and create meaning to the individual and his identity.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Identify personal strengths and weaknesses. 
(ii)   Shift focus to personal improvement and skills acquisition. 
(iii)  Develop soft skills to enhance employability.
(iv)  Interpret the power of motivation and list some of the world’s successful motivational speakers.
(v)   Apply theories of self-improvement into their daily practices, off and at work.
(vi)  Provide examples for topics related to goals, overcoming challenges, achieving personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career life.
(vii) Describe techniques or activities that can improve self-esteem.
(viii) Describe the necessity of determination, making wise choices and setting small achievable goals.
(ix)  Adopt techniques for marketing themselves in the competitive professional environment.
