Rationale


This course intends to introduce students to one of the most powerful tools that every HR department makes use of nowadays, which is HRIS – Human Resource Information System. Throughout the course the students will have the opportunity to understand and examine the multi-functional space of HRIS, the ways data are collected and stored, its benefits and main characteristics in order to be able to make the most of it later on. Additionally, while this programme will guide students to diagnose different organisational needs, this specific course will also teach them the ways to audit the system, review different package solutions and therefore, appropriately implement the right one within the organisation.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Explain the Information Management Theory.
(ii)   Describe the different functions of HRIS.
(iii)  Identify HRIS characteristics and needs.
(iv)  Implement HRIS within the practices of different organisations.
(v)   Design an effective HRIS.
(vi)  Audit HRIS systems.
(vii) Compare different HRIS solutions available.
(viii) Integrate techniques and technology in general related to HRIS within their HRM situations and decisions.
(ix)  Create HRIS using some of the leading HR software available.
(x)   Apply forecasting techniques and data analytics to HR and organisational data.
