Course Description:
Rationale
Project management is becoming more demanding within the current changing and competitive business world, making quality management and monitoring a key element for project fulfilment and business success. Quality management is achieved through people and their skills and is practiced during the whole life cycle of the project. Throughout this course, students will study principles in the field of quality management in order to appropriately implement Quality Management Systems and assure quality of the products, services and the overall project. They will become familiar with the role and influence of technological processes in developing both a quality-based workplace and an enhanced product.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Define the basic concepts and international regulatory framework of quality, quality control, quality assurance and quality management system and improvement.
(ii) Describe ways of applying quality management in various organisations.
(iii) Explain the significance and role of quality management within modern organisations.
(iv) Identify the various quality control methods and apply them accordingly.
(v) Explain the role of technology in developing a quality-based workplace and product.
(vi) Apply tools and techniques of Quality Control and Improvement.
(vii) Conduct an analysis of the quality features of products and services.
(viii) Describe the procedures of quality audits and certification.
(ix) Implement quality methods to overcome implications that appear throughout the product life cycle.
