Course Description:
Rationale
This course will provide students with the fundamental knowledge, essential tools and analytical skills to implement financial procedures and evaluations that are necessary for the feasibility and overall survival of a project. Effective project financing is central to planning and achieving a project’s objectives within strict budget constraints. The students will learn how to create optimum financing structures for various types of projects, by applying the right standards and practices which will keep the projects within budget, reduce waste and utilise more advanced processes to attract funding. The theoretical framework of cost and integration management, cash flow management, project estimation, costing and financial risks will be also examined.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Define the main goals of project finance, its significant elements and the ways it is used within an organisation or a firm in order to increase profit and decrease waste and loss.
(ii) Implement effective financing structures that align with the project’s financial objectives and targets.
(iii) Apply the optimal legal conditions for project financing.
(iv) Apply cost-budgeting and cost-estimation processes.
(v) Analyse project performance through the application of cost control process.
(vi) Explain the main principles of cost management and the importance of cash flow management.
(vii) Develop a financial risk management plan.
(viii) Identify projects that meet the essential criteria and structure for a basic project financing.
