Rationale


This course is designed to demonstrate the value of agility in the field of project management and to provide a definition of this type of management approach and its relevant techniques. Agile project management has become increasingly popular and powerful as it contributes to the recurrent improvement of products, services and results by delivering a project through innovative and sustainable manner. The course aims to provide the means of planning and managing agile projects using popular methodologies.  Therefore, the students will learn how to adopt agile methodologies in a variety of fields to increase team performance and customer satisfaction. The course will emphasise on aspects such as: The Agile Manifesto, Value Driven Delivery, Agile Leadership, Adaptive Planning, Scrum methodology and other agile methods and tools.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the theoretical perspectives of Agile project management.
(ii)   Describe what agility means in terms of project management.
(iii)  Identify agile principles and appropriately apply them within the planning and monitoring procedures of a project.
(iv)  Evaluate agile project management methodologies and their applicability in various industry settings, such as Information Technology, Engineering, Construction etc.
(v)   Describe different agile roles and how they differ from traditional project management roles and responsibilities.
(vi)  Describe the driving forces and context for adopting agility.
(vii) Explain the role of the project manager in an agile team.
(viii) Define Value Driven Delivery and its importance in continuous customer and user feedback.
(ix)  Discuss about adaptive planning and alignment with organisational goals.
