Rationale


The creative industry being a space of self-expression, entertainment and innovation, provides the professionals with a fulfilling environment, full of experiences, innovative ideas to share and stories to tell throughout their career journeys. Nevertheless, the need for business-centered and technical skills to manage creative productions and teams, is imperative for the Public Relations graduates. During this course, the students will acquaint themselves with various leadership and management demands of the creative industry, to appropriately employ them in different contexts. Key theoretical areas to be explored are creative business leadership and management, creative business methods, ethics and intellectual capital.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Define the creative industry in terms of organisational, structural and management characteristics.
(ii)   Identify the objectives of a creative project (screen, stage, digital media) and set the appropriate financial and strategic planning to its realisation.
(iii)  Explain the need of business-centered skills for the management of creative teams and products.
(iv)  Apply leadership skills to promote productivity and creativity within the working space.
(v)   Apply effective interpersonal skills to encourage internal communication.
(vi)  Identify different issues that emerge in the industry and apply the relevant law to contract and copyright issues.
(vii) Distinguish the particular characteristics of a creative professional as compared with other industrial model figures.
