Course Description:

Rationale
Children learn in diverse ways hence, employing relevant skills to facilitate learning is crucial at this level. Children are always on the move and music engages their aural and physical being. The course aims to develop knowledge and cultivate skills in the potential teachers, to enable them to use motion both as an intermediate and as a tool for teaching music to preschool children. Developing the ability to interpret music and movements intelligibly is an art that should be encouraged in children. Understanding the importance of movement in pre-school age is important and the teacher should be able to develop ways with which to effectively integrate movement into teaching for learning musical concepts.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
i.    Use their body as a mean of creative musical expression. 
ii.    Prepare implement and evaluate musical-kinetic activities.
iii.   Analyse the various concepts examined in the course.
iv.   Develop ways in which music-kinetics as an instrument and tool can be used for teaching musical concepts.
v.    Explain the theories used in the course.
vi.   Prepare projects in which movement will make a significant contribution both in the music education of the child and in other lessons.
vii.  Distinguish various musical cultures through their movement and dance characteristics.
