Credits: 12.00
Course Description:
Rationale
The world we live in is complex and can be difficult to understand by learners especially at primary level. Integrated Science 2, will look at the classification of matter, the atom, physical and chemical change and chemical cycles, all of which help to explain the world we live in. The study of the units of measurement, motion, magnetism and electricity are fundamental to life on Earth and therefore are included in the course. The aim of the course is to ensure that the student acquires critical analytical skills together with scientific knowledge, investigative skills, manipulation skills, and digital and information competencies.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
i. Explain the classification of matter and distinguish mixtures, compounds and elements
ii. Discuss what the atom is.
iii. Discuss and clearly explain physical change.
iv. Examine chemical cycles.
v. Identify and discuss the different units of measurement.
vi. Explain what motion is.
vii. Discuss what magnetism is.
