Course Description:

Rationale
A conducive classroom environment is dependent upon the teacher hence this course. Classroom management is a crucial course that every student, as future teacher, should undertake. This course will provide the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge of how to encourage positive student behaviour. Students will understand the importance of promoting the learning process though a conducive learning environment.
 

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:


i.     Apply effective classroom management and promote learning in the classroom.
ii.    Create a safe learning environment in the classroom.
iii.    Prevent management problems. 
iv.    Analyse the difference between communication in classrooms vs. communication elsewhere.
v.     Effectively communicate in the classroom.
vi.    Give a detailed account of positive discipline.
vii.    Describe classroom discipline.
viii.   Discuss the importance of forming healthy relationships between a teacher and a student.
ix.    Explain the importance of communication in classroom management.
