This course is designed to provide students with an overview of quantitative research methodology applicable to the investigation of different phenomena observed in social science. It is intended to introduce the fundamental skills and concepts needed to design and conduct behavioural research for research degree students and to enhance the students’ ability to evaluate the research of others.
This course provides students with the skills essential for designing experimental, quasiexperiment, and survey studies; analyzing the data collected in these studies, and interpreting the results of data analyses. Students will explore designs and statistical techniques to use with their envisioned dissertation research
This module aims to:
Introduce to students the definition of key concepts and terms related to quantitative research and learn quantitative methods of data collection and data analysis.
Explore quantitative techniques through hands-on practices in study design, data collection, and management, as well as the analysis and interpretation of data.
Explore the right rules of conduct and principles of ethics in order to protect your research participants, their rights, data, privacy, autonomy and dignity.
Learning Outcomes after the effective completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Evaluate the doctoral research process.
3. Construct a research problem and purpose statement.
4. Construct research questions that align with the problem and purpose statement.
5. Compare and contrast Quantitative Method in relation to other methodologies.
6. Evaluate the purpose of quantitative designs.
7. Critique quantitative designs.
8. Examine and describe various quantitative data collection tool, procedures, and Statistical analyses.
9. Analyse the advantages, disadvantages, and alternatives to null hypothesis significance testing
10. Investigate how exploring mediator, moderator, and independent variables can contribute to theory.
11. Compare and contrast the roles of sampling technique, convenience samples, and selection bias in quantitative designs.
12. Perform data analysis on SPSS and to interpret the results.
