Rationale


The course provides fundamental knowledge and understanding of the science of Project Management (PM) and its particularities, encompassing both traditional waterfall and agile methodologies. Acquired knowledge and skill set will empower students to proficiently devise and execute projects within professional environments, utilising available methods and tools effectively.

The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of project management’s main concepts, principles and strategies. It will also analyse the broad project environment and use project management techniques and tools on a real project. 

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Use different project management techniques and tools.
(ii)   Analyse the project life-cycle phases, tools, processes and techniques in which projects happen as well as its broader environment.
(iii)  Examine the issues that appear in developing project planning and control activities, including evaluating and anticipating environmental effects in the earliest stages. 
(iv)  Identify prevalent challenges in project management to pre-empt their occurrence, including the ethical and legal perspectives.
(v)   Deploy project plans using the ProjectLibre open software for managing projects.
