Course Description:

Rationale


The Research Methods and Practices course equips students with foundational skills and knowledge necessary for conducting research in education. This includes understanding the purpose and types of educational research, preparing research proposals, exploring various research methodologies, handling data, conducting literature reviews, applying ethical considerations in research, analysing findings, and effectively presenting research results.

The aim of this course is to develop the students’ knowledge of, and ability to utilise, appropriate research methods in order to conclude their research.


Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Identify a suitable area and/or issue for research.
(ii)   Compose a research question effectively and develop a research purpose following the guidelines of Qualitative and Quantitative study.
(iii)  Identify the main differences between qualitative and quantitative methods for data collection on research.
(iv)  Evaluate research findings.
