Course Description:
Rationale
The course examines the current principles, concepts and models in educational leadership. It focuses on understanding the field of school improvement as well as the role of leaders in initiating and sustaining improvement in educational organisations. New media, tools and their applications in learning, and the theories of learning that underlie these studies will be discussed and explained in relation to educational effectiveness and the role and functioning of educational management and leadership.
The course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge on the principles, concepts and models in educational leadership to enable them to improve educational effectiveness in the educational organisations they operate in.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Experiment with current trends in the education process.
(ii) Describe new types of educational models that are useful for teaching and learning design.
(iii) Explain the role of educational leadership in promoting effectiveness of education by involving technology in teaching and learning, introducing new teaching and learning methodologies, improving the xenophobic trends and accept the differentiation and minimising bullying trends.
