Rationale


The course will introduce students to the scientific field of psychology, through the study and critical review of the basic principles and theories of the various areas of psychology.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

(i)    Explain the major theoretical perspectives.
(ii)   Critically assess different theoretical perspectives and how intelligence works.
(iii)  Explain how motivation and emotion affect behavior.
(iv)  Discuss and elaborate on gender issues and human sexuality.
(v)   Critically reflect on Human Development and Personality.
(vi)  Explain the importance of health psychology and stress and impact on everyday life.
(vii) Discuss group behaviour and dynamics.
