Course Description:

Rationale


This course aims to introduce students to the nature of the interaction between leadership and management and provide them with an in-depth knowledge of the required skills and competences in leadership. Students will be enabled to discuss the various forms and styles of socially responsible leadership and will emphasise on covering the tools which will help with the process of self-assessment and personal development.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Apply socially responsible leadership.
(ii)   Differentiate between and integrate leadership and management perspectives.
(iii)  Apply a variety of leadership forms and styles and communicate effectively – ‘wearing different hats. 
(iv)  Be creative and innovative when it comes to problem solving.
(v)   Analyse management of change situations and apply management of change concepts to managerial practice.
(vi)  Analyse symptoms of potential conflict and stress and apply methods to overcome them.
(vii) Develop a personal career plan.
