Rationale
The Communication for Business course is essential to the programme as it enhances students' communication skills across various mediums, including digital and intercultural contexts. It focuses on written, spoken, and nonverbal communication to help students create formal documents, deliver presentations, and navigate diverse business environments effectively.
The course's ultimate aim is to equip students with the communication skills they need to succeed in the competitive business environment of today and facilitate their development of business correspondence with key business terminology and concepts.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Compose fully-blocked letters using open punctuation and the four-point plan.
(ii) Craft buy/sell documents along with accompanying cover letters.
(iii) Compose professional emails adhering to netiquette standards.
(iv) Create effective letters of application, CVs, testimonials, and other professional correspondence.
(v) Generate diverse business documents including memos, meeting documentation, business presentations, itineraries, and publicity materials, demonstrating proficiency in business communication practices.
