Rationale
The Digital Business course equips students with essential tools for success in today's evolving business landscape. Through real-world analysis and case studies, students explore digital strategies, technologies, and trends, fostering the development of effective digital leaders prepared to navigate the digital economy confidently.
The aim of this course is to familiarise students with e-business concepts and their significance in global connectivity so as to develop the skills necessary to execute successful projects in the digital economy, focusing on e-business strategy.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Design enterprise architecture for electronic communications and trading, incorporating revenue and transaction models for online services.
(ii) Analyse hardware and software technologies, as well as security issues for building e-business infrastructure within organisations and with partners.
(iii) Discuss e-strategy concepts at corporate, business unit, and operational levels, emphasising value creation.
(iv) Develop an e-business strategy framework considering the impact of the internet on the macro-environment, industry structure, and firm boundaries, focusing on value creation and organisational process improvement.
(v) Identify supply chain management elements, their relationship to value chain and networks, and procurement methods, benefits, risks, and integration options with e-procurement suppliers.
(vi) Identify the characteristics of the new media marketing communications and understand the relation between e-business and e-marketing and how to outline e-marketing plan.
