Rationale


Introduction to Management is an essential course in the programme as it covers fundamental management concepts, supporting processes, and external business influences. The course fosters critical thinking and analysis for synthesising, interpreting, and evaluating information. It will explore contemporary management issues like adaptability, innovation, and ethical concerns, which will enhance students' intellectual and practical skills.

The aim of the course is to give students a solid foundation in management, which includes an understanding of important ideas and procedures while taking external business dynamics into account.

At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Analyse the main functions and aspects of management.
(ii)   Apply different managerial styles.
(iii)  Distinguish among planning, organising, leading and controlling an organisation.
