Course Description:

Background and Rationale


Each student will have to complete an internship during the fourth and final year of their studies. This experience will take place in a hospitality business environment and will complement the student’s classroom education. Work and internship experiences are required as they are regarded a major advantage and assure that the student is acquainted with actual hospitality industry work environments. These practical experiences supplement academic subject matter and serve to guide you in securing successful employment upon graduation.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:

1)    Critically examine a concrete experience in the light of existing theory.
2)    Evaluate and reflect on a concrete experience and indicate insightfully how to improve one's own processes used.
3)    Identify, enhance and further develop related industry skills based on the experience.
4)    Discuss and apply reflexivity and meta-cognition within professional contexts.
5)    Work autonomously while integrating theory and practice.
