Course Description:
Rationale
International Financial Management embraces the finance theory and develops existing theoretical approaches by providing to students with knowledge regarding instruments and securities used in the international financial markets. Concepts like international capital and money markets, analytical approaches to country risk analysis and foreign investment strategy and analysis broaden the students’ horizons. The course also provides information of various types and methods of financing international firms’ operations. This exposure equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to address the distinctive challenges inherent in effectively managing finances within international organisations.
The aim of this course is to provide the student with an overview of the financial management dimensions in which multinational corporations function.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Outline the environment in which international financial management is undertaken.
(ii) Underline the importance of international monetary system.
(iii) Calculate the balance of payments.
(iv) Analyse how a country risk analysis can benefit a business.
(v) Assess the different functions involved in managing exposure to exchange rates.
(vi) Identify the types/methods of financing international corporations.
(vii) Distinguish and analyse foreign investment opportunities and decisions including international capital and money markets.
(viii) Analyse how multinational corporate strategies can be applied.
