Hence, this course's thorough coverage of the local taxation system, its principles and their real-world application proves indispensable for finance professionals. Understanding the role of taxation in both individual and business activities is crucial, and gaining knowledge of computing income tax liabilities for individuals and companies is essential throughout the course.
This course aims to enable students to become proficient in technical and computational taxation issues impacting individuals and businesses.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Analyse the operation and scope of the local tax system.
(ii) Compute the income tax liabilities of individuals.
(iii) Calculate the corporation tax liabilities of individual and groups of companies.
(iv) Compute the special contribution for the defence (SCD) liabilities of individuals and companies.
(v) Calculate the capital gains tax liabilities of individuals and companies.
(vi) Compute the effects of value added tax on incorporated and unincorporated businesses.
