Rationale
This course is crucial to the programme as it encourages students to become active participants in the debate that is at the leading edge of managerial and leadership thinking and practice. Students who complete this course are expected to be able to take action to strategically lead and develop the organisations in which they are part of. The course also draws on developments in the field of social innovation from the perspective of the organisation and the agents who operate with it.
This course aims to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge explored to enable students to actively consider how they may personally make a difference in strategic professional contexts through strategic leadership.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Evaluate strategic theory within their organisational context or the context of an organisation with which they are familiar.
(ii) Examine how aspects of knowledge and systems thinking, impact strategic management.
(iii) Provide essential aspects and important frameworks of leadership used in Strategic Leadership.
(iv) Identify the different leadership styles.
(v) Implement a strategic leadership posture in a particular organisational setting, internally and externally.
