Course Description:

Background and Rationale

The aim of this course is to develop a student's ability to strategically manage an organization. Specifically, the course will explore, from a critical perspective, rational frameworks used in strategic analysis and planning. This will enhance a student's ability to direct and manage the development of business and corporate strategy in the contexts of complexity and change. Students who complete this course are expected to be able to actively contribute to the strategic development of an organization in which they are, or intend to be, senior managers.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students will be expected to:

1) Critically implement a range of strategic tools, frameworks and concepts in the strategic development of an organisation.

2) Evaluate the contribution of strategic frameworks in contemporary strategic management.

3) Explore rational frameworks used in strategic analysis and planning.

4) Intensify the knowledge and skills towards the development of business and corporate strategy within the contexts of complexity and change.
