Rationale
Comprehension of the fundamental concepts of modern management is vital for students pursuing an MBA, as it equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in managerial roles. By comprehending these concepts, students acknowledge their significance in achieving the organisation’s short and long-term goals and objectives, thereby preparing them to make informed decisions and effectively contribute to organisational success.
The aim of this course is to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the main concepts and challenges influencing contemporary management practices.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i) Define the processes of modern management.
(ii) Assess the factors that affect modern managers as persons, as well as the issues that affect modern management in the global environment and processes that affect the organisation’s efficiency.
(iii) Discuss the reasons behind organisational change, resistance to change, and the most effective strategies for the implementation of a change.
(iv) Analyse the characteristics that modern managers and leaders have and how these can contribute towards effective team management.
(v) Evaluate the importance of the human resource factor in an organisation and how effective communication can increase the efficiency of the organisation and help it attain its goals and objectives.
