Course Description:

This course examines the main aspects of working towards improving teaching and learning in schools and in Further Education. It aims to provide a broad understanding of the main topics related to managing teaching and learning methods. We begin with defining some of the key challenges for improving instruction. Then, we move into examining the factors that support improvement and the associated practices that an instructional leader needs, including: (a) the recognition of temporary teaching approaches and implementation (b) promoting innovative instructional practices (c) designing and managing a school setting for students' learning (d) designing and managing a school setting for teachers' and leaders' learning (e) examining the factors contributing to  teachers' stress and discussing well-being in the work place. As we study these factors and practices we will also learn more effective ways for interacting with and reflecting on instruction which can be applied for both teachers and school leaders.
