Rationale


Health Information Systems (HIS) are fundamental to effective healthcare delivery in today's data-driven world. This course equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, utilise, and manage HIS effectively.

The aim of this course is to enable students to critically analyse the role of HIS in healthcare, evaluate different HIS components and functionalities, and understand the ethical and societal considerations surrounding health data management.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Analyse the significance and core principles of using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) in healthcare settings.
(ii)   Evaluate the challenges of implementing information technology in knowledge generation and utilisation within complex healthcare organisations (hospitals, health systems). 
(iii)  Develop proposals for complex information systems to support decision-making in healthcare systems.
